The Studio

Our Story

BYR was born out of a desire to share the positive power of Bikram Yoga with the community of Richmond, where co-owners Leah and Dave Groves, along with their three children, have chosen to call home.

Richmond's unique sense of culture coupled with its strong community spirit made it an ideal choice to establish the original studio, located on Alexandra Street. Those of you who practiced there surely remember our humble beginnings: the studio was small with virtually no parking and no showers. Despite these shortcomings, the studio began to thrive as word spread about the awesome power of Bikram Yoga.

For six years BYR flourished , as Leah and Dave continued to share their passion for yoga with the community they had fallen in love with. However, as the number of yogis grew, so too did the need for a new, larger space. It took time to find the right location but they found it in Lansdowne Mall.

The new studio opened its doors in June 2008. In keeping with Leah and Dave's vision of creating a sanctuary of tranquility and harmony, the new studio features a Buddha water fountain, clean lines and muted colors, creating a beautiful space filled with peaceful serenity.

Leah and Dave, along with the incredible team of teachers and staff, welcome you to share their space and become a part of the BYR community.
