I took my first Bikram Yoga class out of curiosity in June of 2006 in Toronto back in my university days. Like many other first timers, I somehow survived that 90mins without knowing what was going on. Even though I was exhausted after class, one thing I was sure -- I'd never ever felt so fresh before! This is amazing! I gotta do it again!... Ever since then, I have been practicing Bikram Yoga regularly. I finally completed Teacher Training in Fall 2011 in Los Angeles. I see Bikram yoga class as a 90-min-meditation with movement. It has improved my level of concentration, patience and strength (both physically and mentally). As I struggled in my practice, I have learned to let go my emotions/thoughts and most importantly, I have learned to breathe. Bikram said "never ever under-estimate yourself... You don't know who you are yet." I am still in the process of achieving self-realization. In the past several years of practice, I have seen positive transformation in my body, my mind and my spirit. I know this is going to be a life-long journey. I hope to meet you at some point soon. Whether I am practicing beside you or being your instructor in class, I look forward to sharing this amazing yoga practice with you. Namaste
Teaching Style
Calm and clear instruction. Encouraging, soothing and passionate. I learn to project and use the variation in my voice to give my students energy and keep them focus in class.
Favorite Posture
I like both Standing Head to Knee and Standing Bow. They are beautiful postures that require a lot of physical and mental strength, perfect demonstration of mind-body connection.
Least Favorite Posture
Locust (both legs) is my all time least favorite posture. I seem to always struggle in breathing and using upper body strength in this posture.
