Maria came to Canada from Mexico almost 7 years ago and soon realized how life in the Canadian West Coast was health driven, and she eventually joined Bikram Yoga in Kitsilano. Months later she dropped out due to very severe pains in her shoulders and neck, it was almost 6 months later that she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (an immune disorder). She soon returned to Bikram Yoga, only this time she joined the Richmond Studio. She was overweight with severe pains in most of her upper body joints, but despite this, she continued to practice consistently for a period of almost two years. She lost almost 50 pounds! Practicing Bikram Yoga became part of her life, as she changed her body by changing her mind. She finds "transformation by perspiration", becoming more tolerant, stronger, healthier and happier as a result. She ultimately decided to embark herself deeper into Bikram Yoga and to become a teacher, to give back to people the gift that she received from her own teachers, studio owners and classmates. She graduated in Hawaii, Spring of 2007. Maria loves teaching, and the feeling of staying connected with the students. It is through yoga that she achieved not only overall good health and well being, but also personal growth, self knowledge and confidence, together with a deeper appreciation and humanity. Teaching Style

My teaching style is energetic, giving, vigorous, lively, brisk and spicy.

Favorite Posture

My very favorite posture is Triangle. I find it beautiful, beneficial, challenging, and invigorating and it helps me to open up to the world.

Least Favorite Posture

My least favorite one posture is Full Locust. My most difficult posture of all, my body feels heavy, refusing to let go!
