Amy

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Amy is currently working as a medical laboratory technologist after graduating from UBC and BCIT. Since discovering Bikram Yoga in April 2006, she immediately fell in love with it and has been practicing at least four times a week. Amy is still amazed that Bikram Yoga has transformed her from being a lifelong "couch potato" to an adventurous athlete, trying out rock climbing, kayaking, the Grouse Grind and even attempting belly dancing. Bikram Yoga not only helped Amy lose weight and improve overall health, but also transformed many aspects of her life both physically and mentally. After two and half years of solid practice, Amy traveled to Acapulco, Mexico in the fall of 2008 to train and become a certified yoga instructor. She feels blessed to be able to learn and be inspired by the Bikram Yoga founder himself and wants to share her passion with you.

Teaching Style

Amy teaches an enthusiastic, encouraging and compassionate class.

Favorite Posture

Standing Head to Knee- this posture used to be my least favorite. When I first started, I couldn't even get my thumbs under my foot and I was bouncing all over the place. After consistent practice, I'm happy to see myself progress from holding the foot, to kicking the foot, and eventually forehead touching the knee. It truly requires a lot of focus and determination which connects one's mind, body and soul.

Least Favorite Posture

Eagle- I'm still struggling to get my feet, knee, elbows, hands all in one line. My hips tend to twist to one side and I have a hard time pulling my fingertips down below my nose. After 3 years of practice, now at least I can get my foot behind my calf and put my hand-palms together. Who knows, maybe one day it will become one of my favorites.
